Meet Marchelle
Leadership+Experience+Commitment - that matters to Happy Valley
Born and raised in NE Portland, where I raised three amazing children, I now proudly call Happy Valley my home. Throughout my life, I have worn three hats: a mom, a soldier, and a public servant. Each role has been a testament to my unwavering dedication to service.
My commitment to service began at 17 when I joined the Army to serve my country and earn my way to college. This decision shaped my life, allowed me to travel the world, interact with diverse cultures, and understand the importance of community. The camaraderie and mission dedication I experienced inspired me to continue to serve in the Army Reserves for another 18 years, all while growing a meaningful 30-year career in the energy industry, raising my family, and attending graduate school. These parallel paths fueled my desire to enhance my community and improve the lives of my neighbors.
I attended Portland State University, where I studied Political Science, Urban Studies & Planning, and Public Policy. This education along with my city planning background and career in leadership roles makes me uniquely qualified to be your next City Councilor.
As an Army veteran and energy executive, I understand what it takes to lead. I have collaborated with city leaders and utility managers to craft energy solutions, drafted policy, and networked with state and federal officials on energy and renewable planning. I currently serve as a Planning Commissioner for Happy Valley. My extensive experience and track record of community engagement have prepared me to address the critical issues that matter most to the residents of Happy Valley.
Happy Valley is one of the fastest-growing cities in Oregon and with that growth comes the need for thoughtful planning. I will prioritize growth management, transportation, and safety.
I am committed to making Happy Valley a city we can all be proud of—a place where families thrive, businesses flourish, and our natural landscape is protected. I will bring a unique blend of talents and skills to the city council, honed through diverse experiences and a steadfast commitment to community service.
My motto has always been “leave a place better than I found it.” Happy Valley, I just found you, and we are just getting started. Let’s build a brighter future together.
