LIST OF ISSUES
Cultivating Community

People want a sense of community where they live.  Happy Valley has a distinctive character and identity. It is a growing city but still enjoys a small-town feel.  I want to create options for pathways to homeownership, so generations of families can afford to live here. I support the development of community centers that are gathering places for families, and safe spaces for recreation and bringing the community together.

Grow Sustainably

Happy Valley deserves a plan for growth that fits our needs and vision.  I recognize that with growth comes greater responsibility and management. I want to balance highest and best use with the character of neighborhoods and the rights of people living here, while supporting economic growth through new local business and industries that give back to our community. Our city can thrive with partnerships with local industries that create pathways for young people who want to enter the trades or seek entrepreneurial opportunities.

Safeguard Our Resources

Our landscape is what makes Happy Valley beautiful.  I will maintain this by instilling strong management of our natural resources, such as our water and green spaces. Our residents have the right to a healthy environment.  I will improve our parks and natural areas by expanding our current hiking trails that connect our neighborhoods.  I aim to ensure that we are positioned in our planning efforts to design and respond to our changing climate.  I also will foster an environment that includes smart transportation options to reduce air pollution, harmful emissions, and reduce automobile traffic.
